Carey has been painting and drawing since childhood. She attended the John
McCrady Art School as a youngster and later went to Washington University where
she obtained a BFA in painting. She also studied at the University of Washington,
the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (and was the recipient of a Life Drawing Award
and a Shirley Lemann Award) and did graduate work at the University of North
Carolina with a Pollard Fellowship. Her work is included in a number of private and
corporate collections.
The presented pieces are Carey’s created botanicals and scenes derived and
influenced by nature’s colors, shapes, movements, and moods.
